Twisted Metal Black Online - Gameplay Mods
by: lordnikon
For any online game with customization options, there is the ability to come up with a number of custom configurations. However all of those cases are not necessarily special. Such as one char, on a map, with restricted weapons, and a particular game mode. It is very easy for configs to become replicas/variations of each other.
These configs/mods I have compiled, are very unique. Not only do they drastically set themselves apart from your average config, but they create all new gameplay scenarios which force you to use weapons, relics, and various attacks that go underused in the average TMB:Online game.
They also cause the player to mentally associate them as drastically different experiences than the average Twisted Metal Black Online game. Players will consider these modes highlights of a night on TMBO, and also then to ask for 2 or 3 rematches(moreso with Total Domination, because it rocks!).
The configs below are set to time limits instead of score limits. This was done so that however good or bad you are performing, you still get to play the match for a decent amount of time. Professional players cutting a game short for amateurs can put a damper on the mood and atmosphere. If a set time is made, all users have that chance to try and fight their way up the ranks for the duration of the match. It encourages a good atmosphere and competition.
Note: I may or may not accept an addition to this list. I think someone might be able to come up with 1 more unique config. However like I already stated configs start ending up as clones. If you have an idea for a new configuration, it would have to be radically different than the configs listed below, and equally if not more unique.

Total Domination
GAME TYPE
- Mode: Collector
- Time Limit: 7-10 minutes (Optional)
- Score Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Number Artifacts: 20
- Scoring Method: Domination
- Synchronous Entry: Yes/No (Optional)
GAME LEVEL
- < DOGPOUND > very small
GAME MODS
- Single Weapon: Use All
- Single Vehicle: Use Any
- HUD Display: Normal
- Power Relics: Yes
- Unlimited Weapons: No
Power Relics are turned ON in this config. The Parasite, Restoration, and Evade relics are the most beneficial during this match.
Be sure to watch out for mines if players are laying them. When 3+ players are laying mines, the entire room becomes extremely hard to navigate without taking damage. If you feel the room is becoming to cluttered with mines, initiate your shield, and run over the mines to extinguish them.
Electric8ted
GAME TYPE
- Mode: Deathmatch
- Time Limit: 7-10 minutes (Optional)
- Score Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Kill Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Damage Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Scoring Method: Carnage
- Use Bots: No
- Synchronous Entry: Yes/No (Optional)
GAME LEVEL
- < POWER PLANT > medium
GAME MODS
- Single Weapon: Use All
- Single Vehicle: Crazy 8
- HUD Display: Normal
- Power Relics: No
- Unlimited Weapons: No
The Power Plant map has the giant electrical tower in the middle. This suits the theme perfectly. Crazy 8 is a relatively fast car, and this map is pretty open. So this makes for some very fast paced open range action. I should note that Power Relics are DISABLED here. Crazy 8's special plus a Slayer/Parasite would give an unfair advantage. The scoring here is based on Carnage. Meaning your end score is determined both by Damage Dealt, but by Kills as well!
Crazy 8's Special has a variety of attack methods. During its normal attack continue pressing the fire button to send surges of electricity into your opponent for more damage. To use Crazy 8's secondary MAXIMUM charge special attack, press any single direction on the D-pad 3 times and then attack. The electricity will now launch from the direction you chose on the D-pad. It will be extremely powerfull, and its color will be a richer purple looking attack.
Minion Madness
GAME TYPE
- Mode: Deathmatch
- Time Limit: 7-10 minutes (Optional)
- Score Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Kill Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Damage Limit: 0 (0=Unlimited)
- Scoring Method: Net Damage
- Use Bots: No
- Synchronous Entry: Yes/No (Optional)
GAME LEVEL
- < MINION'S STADIUM > small
GAME MODS
- Single Weapon: Special
- Single Vehicle: Minion
- HUD Display: No Radar
- Power Relics: Yes
- Unlimited Weapons: No
You cannot lay mines, shoot fireballs, or freeze other players. This is not a guideline, you actually are unable to perform these functions. Only shield and cloaking are possible.
The match is set to NET damage. Because Minion's stadium is enclosed, and Minion is very slow, evading damage will be even harder. Thus many of the defense based relics become extremly important in achieving victory. All Defensive relics are now pushed to the top of the advantage chart. The only offensive relic that now works is the Slayer relic. Because this relic is so powerfull, using the Buster relic will be extremly important during gameplay! The backlash relic almost becomes just as dangerious as the Slayer relic here, due to it's ability to send damage back to the opponent while shielded.
You will notice that Radar Display is turned off. Now cloaking and the Assassin relic have very important roles in this match, allowing you to hide from other players. Due to Minions large size it can be difficult to see around the vehicle especially from the default car view.
The Evasion Relic will only be "partially" effective. You can dodge Minions Fireballs, but not the flames at close range.
