I have and it will work fine if you take some precautions. Mainly this: Do not join a team with more than 3 players and limit your team size to 3. Any more than that and it's completely unplayable.

That can't be the case. There has to be a level cap at some point. Maybe the system file also controls extra mode. You can download it without buying a license.
