At the recent Playstation Experience event in London interesting multiplayer new features were revealed. Users must use environmental objects at their disposal to thwart the oncoming menace of zombies bent on feeding their hunger. Using furniture to barricade doors and close off passages can hold off the zombies, but not for long, eventually they find a way through.

Talks of Human player online transforming into zombies after death have been confirmed. In the lower right hand corner of the display you will see a meter which gauges the toxic level of the virus in your blood stream. As the meter increases overtime from damage dealt from zombies, your character will begin to limp then eventually start crawling then ending up in a paralyzed state on the floor, until dead.

Once your character takes its feet again its in a Zombie state, undead. Your goal now is to attack other players in the game.

Minor details are added to the game to increase replay value and gameplay. Zombies cannot open doors, hence they must bump and thud against them until the door eventually opens. Also objects being used to attack zombies such as wooden sticks, and brooms can be snapped and broken from the force used to pumel the zombie.

The release date for RE: Outbreak is currently floating around as "2004". The fact that they had a multiplayer demo active is a good sign, however signs of a Japan release, following a delayed North American release seem eminent. However I can't complain. It was announced that Europe might not receive an online compatible version. Capcom and Sony say its because of differences in Europe's network infastructure.(Personally I feel this is a pile of shit, and Japan treats Europe like its from Mars or something.)
