Create a new network configuration for your PS2 and name it "taa" (you can name it anything you want, this just makes sense since its going to be for Tribes).

Configure everything as you normally would to connect online for your network, but for the Primary DNS field, enter:

142.4.208.16

You can use 0.0.0.0 for the Secondary Field.

Boot up Tribes Aerial Assault, choose the "taa" network configuration, and connect.

If successful you should see a dummy server in the list.

Currently the best experience for TAA is playing online with bots. The AADS dedicated server ran into some Windows compatibility issues after some service packs, and some testing is needed to determine the optimal environment to run AADS. Also, when hosting from a PS2 you get bots which are absent from AADS. So hosting from a PS2 is a lot better due the trouble of finding lots of players to populate a TAA online session.

I am just wondering whether backup games can play online or not?? because all of my games are in the ISO format that I downloaded from the internet.
Don't blame me that why I didn't by the genuine one. It's very hard to find genuine PS2 games in my country. Even I go to the game stores, they still sell the burned games.

I have no experience yet trying to network backup games. Only legitimate PS2 discs.

Tribes Aerial Assault should in theory work to get online since it doesn't connect to Sony's DNAS authentication service. Have you tried connecting yet? TAA is no longer online via Sierra's master list, so you have to use the guide above to get online on our Master List.

I can at least confirm that my backed up version of the game booted from HDD with OpenPS2Loader was able to connect and see the dummy server. So it should work fine.

Is there any way for us to plan playtimes? Skype group/IRC channel/"Hey I'm Online" thread, etc? What time of day are people typically online?

Awesome! Thanks for the test kENesis.

Right now the game organization area is the best way to try and plan a game:

Alright. I'm hosting a game right now if anyone wants to get destroyed :p

Can people still join if I have bots enabled?

Also confirming that TAA boots and runs perfectly from my HDD-OSD modded PS2. I'm going to check if I can see the dummy server tonight, I would love to play anything Dreamcast and PS2 with you guys!

Yep people can join if bots are enabled. The bots drop off from the game when each human joins. I usually sprinkle in about 6-8 bots to keep the game running smoothly. Using more than that can sometimes cause a bit of lag for connected users, but it all depends on how good your connection is. Experimentation is encouraged Smile

I'm available to play whenever, free today. I also connected and found that the server is empty.

Yeah I can see no one the server either,
I am still wondering whether I make something wrong during network settings or the server is just empty because nobody's connected online yet.
