Im trying to set up my new Cable connection to my PS2 which is being routed via a Nyko Net Extender(see below link), but when I test the connection, I get a "DNAS Error: -611". Any idea on how to fix this? My IP address and DNS numbers are correct, and the units are connected correctly(ethernet cable from cable modem to base unit, and ethernet cable from remote unit to PS2). Ever since I formatted my PC, I dont see anything firewall related in my control panel, so I dont think thats the problem. I read somewhere that opening ports could help, but I dont know how to do that.

http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=14

Thanks.

EDIT: I just isolated the problem. I connected my cable modem directly to the PS2 and still got the same error. I think I have to open my TCP and UDP ports in the modem.Any fix for this?

I remember this error. Try searching playstation.com network adaptor forums for that exact same error. Bet you find a thread about it instantly. I should start a guide with solutions to various errors numbers. *makes a mental note*

Here's what I found about the -611 DNAS error:
Quote:
Network Errors:
-611 NET_DNS_HOST_NOT_FOUND

The DNS resolver did not recognize the DNAS server host name. "DNAS Error (-611) A network error has occurred." Please double-check your network connection and/or network configuration.

General Errors:
-611 or -612 - Firewall or network with closed ports.

This was from an unofficial DNAS list, linked off of the PlayStation.com forums: http://rmack90.spymac.net/dnaserrorlist.htm

So, it looks like you have to open some ports on your modem. Are you configuring the PS2 using the Start-Up Disc, or are you using a game's network setup?

With the startup disc.
