I had to switch from cable internet to DSL today (because of the move). Anyway, this is very slow. I mean, worse than 56K slow.

I read that it takes a few days for the telco to really get your DSL line configured. Is this true? That would explain the slowness.

Did you test your connection speed?

http://www.dslreports.com/stest/

try that and see what you get

I did this earlier today.

The results were very inconsistent; sometimes I got a download speed of 1.2 MBs and other times I barely hit 90 kb/s. Sad

Hmm maybe they are still working on it. But you also could have a bad dsl modem. I would *oh no* call tech support and explain the problem. They will most likely have to send someone out to investigate.

I think I'll just wait a few more days. If the problem persists, I'll follow your advice and get a techie out here.

Ok. After a router upgrade, I'm blazing across the internet. OC PS2 only takes two seconds to load up! Smile

My upload speed is pretty odd. I was hosting a game on UC and I was able to host eight people, twice as many as before. My upload was about 20kb/s faster on Comcast.

My ISP told me to leave my modem on for the first 10 days straight, since they tend to tweak shit. I would suggest that, too. My speed actually improved gradually.

That's what I was thinking lanzar. My speed improved drastically after a day. Now my speed-test results are pretty consistent.
