It went ok. I know you D/Ced and were completely confused as to how to play, but how was the lag on 56k?

I went through the tutorials and they gave me a solid rundown on the fundamentals for both spy and mercenary, but you don't really know what to do until you're in an actual game. I learned that tonight. Smile

The lag was high for shooting accuracy, but wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I D/Ced a lot because of my mic being plugged in and taking up precious bandwidth. The game did strange things to me if I didn't do so (i.e. it wouldn't load right).

The gameplay itself seems pretty good, and I can see how it's so "revolutionary" as all the reviews put it out to be. I'll just say that I'd rather be a mercenary rather than a spy (dang camera!), and that I'll be playing this game online more (hopefully without this much of a lag issue).

Overall, okay games.

Well since you're using ICS (get broadband already) then you really need to have a no mic game. When we all took them out, you were fine. The shooting accuracy probably wasn't a lag issue. If you have a lag issue, you know it.

Now that I think about it, I guess you're right. The real lag I remember, then, was collision issues with opposing members. If I run into someone and get smoked with a granade as a merc, it's over for me.

I'm not surprised about the no mic issue, but mics worked fine in full 6-player games for another Tom Clancy game known as Rainbow Six 3. The lag is more apparent in RS3, though, and I guess that's the drawback.

And I know, I want friggin' broadband already! It's readily available in my area, so that's not the problem... My DSL order's been "pending" or "in process" or "processing" or whatever for months now, and I can't do a thing about it except wait or cancel and start over. Gotta get the parents motivated to deal with this.

Glad to seem some splinter cell games going. I would have shown for sure, however my sleep schedule contradicted it. I went to bed at 5 PM :/

My guess is that the post-somke-grenade kills weren't lag either. That happens a lot to any new merc until they learn how to use things like tazers effectively, but it could have been lag still. Lag on this game alays seems to be situations where you position is repeatedly reset to some starting point you had before the lag. When that gets bad it makes the game unplayable, but tends to be rare. Other than that, lag only cuts out mics sometimes.

The reason the mics probably cause lag is that it's an open mic with 4 people, whereas RS3 is a closed mic right?
