i borrowed mafia for the ps2 once, i wasnt a fan. loading was crazy and i thought the cars were so realistic it sapped the fun out of it. but i agree, playing gta in the godfather era is great.

one question about SA, hows the loading? i hear you can go from one end to the other without a second of load. true? and if so hows the initial loading?

i have mine on my hdd so i have almost no loading at all.. but there is some loading at the start but none ive noticed so far..

yes mafia did have bad loading times but mine was alos on the hdd so the loading times arnt too bad...
and the cars are kinda of slow but they wanted them to be realistic due the the 1930's era

I think GTA:SA starts out slow, but I felt that way about GTAIII and GTA:VC, as well. I didn't really like GTA:VC until about halfway through the story. I think the reason the GTA games on PS2 start out slow is that they are so massive that it takes a few hours of gameplay to make it through all the tutorials. I actually have about 5 hours of gameplay down and I'm still being introduced to new shit. After you know what to do and how to do it, then the game really picks up. Although it's very much an action-packed game, it takes a while to get a good feel for where the story is going and get in the groove.

no, it is a duel disk.

i was just playing this at my friends house. its cool, but i dont like the player controls and its too hard to get cash and guns, and how in a fist fight, once youre down, its really hard to get back into the fight.

but the RPG elements are pretty cool.

i plan on getting it sometime

Is the gunplay the same as the previous games (where you hold down a shoulder button to target and press L2/R2 to alternate targets), or does it play like a third-person shooter now?
