Another Rainbow Six game is set to hit the PS2, and with online capabilities once again. I recently read through the press release for the game. (It's amazing how little real information is in press releases. So much filler.) Here are all the details I was able to extract that have any real importance on RS4. The single player game involves a Bio-Terrorist threat. You can fill in the blanks on everthing else. Same Rainbow Six deal here folks. One new feature, probobly borrowed from Killzone, is the ability to play the game as 2 different personalities. Whether this is optional or mandatory is yet to be seen.

Thanks for the early info, nikon. Here's hopes to Ubisoft and Red Storm getting it right this time around. (Well, better than it was, at least.)

I really wish Ubisoft would quit releasing a new Clancy game every three months. I'd like to enjoy the games I already own.

No kidding. Companies need to make sure their new releases offer something substantially new to gamers that will be viewed as a welcomed addition and vast improvement over previous additions.
Too many companies are just cranking out multiple iterations with marginal differences over previous versions. Their biggest goals are meeting deadlines and generating revenue - not gameplay. I apologize, I'll get off my soap box now. I'm just surprised to see Rainbow Six 4 coming out so soon. I hope it represents a big leap for the franchise in the right direction. |

is this coming out on xbox also? Yes it is. The Xbox version will have a RPG/Class-based multiplayer mode. Read Gamespot's Xbox impressions for further details. On-topic: I hope Ubi can nail down the gameplay in this installment. If they can somehow get around to tuning the 'spray and pray' bullet physics, then I'll give it a try. That's half the battle right there, folks. -Mytho |

-Mytho Hey I like that. Has a nice ring to it. Actually, they should just rename the game to this. Rainbow Six 4: Spray and Pray You take the role of Ding Chavez like never before. After a sudden calamity in the columbian jungle, Ding is now left blind. He must defend a small villiage and it's church. Drug lords devise a scheme to steal holy land for ransom under the watchful eye of corrupt US diplomats. The plot twists when the Drug lords threaten to unravel the keystone of civilization, unless Ding Chavez eager to prove his faith can overcome his brooding self-doubt and stop the Drug lords once and for all. The game ends with a mildly comical and/or ironic scene in which the Drug lords blow up or go to prison. Another satisfying tale of political intrigue and personal redemption closes, and we all walk away from this game a little wiser. |

We must give thanks to Maddox for the Tom Clancy Plot Generator. -Mytho |

Looks like Maddox will have to add another twister to that Tom Clancy plot generator:
Rainbow Six 4 is Gone - http://ps2.ign.com/articles/575/575609p1.html Just the name, though. Not the whole game. Quote: December 23, 2004 - The game previously known as the ubiquitous videogame Rainbow Six 4 shall henceforth be known as Rainbow Six: Lockdown in all perpetuity. This decree has been handed down from the knowledgeable elders of the state of Ubisoft. They also seek to assure the faithful that the gameplay will be as they have come to know and love and shall even include a twist. The next paragraph will describe said twist in further detail.
As the last paragraph alluded to in direct detail the new twist of the game is detailed as such: this time the victorious Rainbow Six outfit shall be under attack. A pernicious terrorist organization is targeting the Rainbow Six fellows and it is only right that they respond in kind. In the foretold action there shall be two Rainbow characters that will be controlled by the player and there are promises of thrilling adventures on par with previous exploits. -Ed Lewis |

The name change isn't going to make any diffrence; this title will be the same as it predecessors, just with a fresh coat of paint.
