........if you dont have any friends with PS2s, it would be expencive. All my friends are on the XBOX bandwagon, so none of them have PS2s. If i was going to set it up, i would have to dish out the money for another PS2 Sad

Expensive? nahhh

$6.00 for i.link cable Wink

It all depends on the situation, whether you would use i.link or LAN. If you have 2 copies of GT3 and 2 compatible PS2's....all you would need is a single i.link cable. Instead of a router.....and network configs on each memory card....and 2 ethernet cables....2 network adaptors.

If you own Armored Core Nexus (since it comes with 2 discs)...you wouldn't even need to have a friend who owns the game. All you would need is a PS2 your game and your cable, and tell him to bring over his system.

The only hard part is the network configs on each memory card, but if you already have that... still your point is valid, although you don't need the router and you only need one ethernet cable, and network adapters are now standard.

i.link would be ideal if you built arcade style setups and then permanently linked them together for some competitive racing hottness. It would only cost like $800 right?

2 Dedicated PS2s - $200
2 GT Steering wheels -$170ish
2 Comfy Chairs (Those padded rockers in Best Buy would work great) - $230
2 Copies of GT3 (or another i.link racer) - $25
All the construction materials - $170 ? No idea, but wood can be expensive.
An i.link cable -$5

Alternatively, you could do this with Armored Core and a custom controller. I'll have to think about that one.

There not loyal to the xbox, but none of them want a ps2. They say it would be a waste of money to have 2 systems. Rolling Eyes I have 20 diff systems Mr. Green

It turns out these games are Japan and PAL only, and were not released in the US, which is why we didn't know about them until now. Thank you so much for the information. I try to cover the PAL and JP games as best as possible, but it can be difficult sometimes because I am in the US.

Does the PAL release of Age of Empires II have a 60hz option?

Just wondering as I might track down this game, and I would rather get the PAL version because it would have english menus.

Hi

The Pal version of Age of Empires 2 has no 60hz option. The only way is maybe, that if there is a japanese ntsc version available or you can patch your pal version with an ntsc patch, if you have a modded console. In the Pal version there are with some other languages also english menus included.

Tokyo Road Race has english menus and also a 60 hz option and a screen adjust option.

Age of Empires 2 has also a screen adjust option, which might be helpful after the ntsc patch.

Greetings

The main reason I wanted to get the PAL version was for the english menus. And it really doesn't matter which version I buy of Tokyo Road Race (Battle Gear 2), because that is a racing game, and text isn't as important as it would be with Age of Empires 2.

I guess that means I will have to pick up the JP release of AOE2 then.

I know absolutely nothing about the i.Link, but my PS2 does have the port for it, and I now own Gran Turismo 3 (from the grace of gRiMgRaVY014, THANKS!) Anyway, what are my options with using this? Would I have to set up a DCC (direct cable connection) with my PC and then share the connection? I realize that a 6 player race won't be possible, but could someone tell me what I can do with this?

hm i dont think that pc to ps2 through i.link has been done yet.But its basically just like that old system link cable that they had for the ps1. NEVER seen an ilink cable in person before though.

The i.link port is specifically for local system link play. You cannot tunnel i.link games online because there is no driver on the PC that can interface with it.

Some of the advantages of i.link, are that you just need a single cable to link 2 systems together, and you don't need a configuration file on the memory card. It just works.

Cool, yea if you have friends with a PS2, and they have i.link on their PS2's then it is well worth it. Plus you can i.link other titles like Unreal Tournament :] Although the controller support on it is horrid, so usb mouse and kb is the only way to go.

Also on GT3, setting up i.link with steering wheels would be great. I hope to do that someday.
