Well I just shipped off my Playstation 2,6 games, dvd remote and sensor, vertical stand, etc. I kinda feel lonely now but i could always go buy a new slimline this was the first reason for me selling it. But now I want a better pc and I really cant beat the deal. Its Compaq Model: Evo Processor: Celeron 1.7 GHz Hard Drive: 20 GB Memory: 256 MB CDRom: Floppy: NIC: 10/100 USB: 4 Ports Serial: 2 Port Keyboard, Mouse, Power Cord, OS: WinXP Pro Condition: Excellent, barely used.Plus this system holds 3gb of ram its a enterprise business model. It's local and its only 150 even less than buying a slimline basically. I'm now stuck with 9 other games , memory card, and logitech headset because i thought i was gonna purchase the slimline. I would like to kno other members opinion on this what would you do? |

Ask yourself what you need the PC hardware for? Are you really going to put the PC upgrade to use? or are you getting it just to have it? If you arn't going to be really using the extra PC power and memory upgrade abilities, then i would just pick up a SlimLine, and wait to upgrade your PC later.

yeah like nikon said... if you are going to put the pc to use and turn it into a gaming machine go for that right now and buy the slimline a little bit down the road.... you might be able to buy a new slimline down the road but the pc might not be there from what uyour saying

Well, if you're going for a gaming computer, I wouldn't get a celeron 1.7ghz with a 20gb harddrive. And there is no mention of the graphics card in that thing..

lol If you think that pc sucks the pc im on must be dirt. 466mhz 256 ram win xp home edition. I would think going from that to what im considering buying is a huge upgrade. But im still debating on it thanks everyone for their opinion. Also its not going to be a game rig i use computers only to surf the web and maybe chat on yahoo messenger.

The RAM on his current machine is good enough for WinXP, but I do believe he's running it at a almost too low of a clockspeed... I won't put WinXP on a 500mhz because it's pretty slow (but then again, those machines always had 128mb of RAM). If all you do is browse the web, chat on IM, listen to music?, then the machine you're getting is actually pretty good. Not over the top, but definitely NOT the worst you could get. I always think of computers in a gaming sense, though, so that's why I said what I did in my first post. |

Well winxp really needs 256mb of ram or more to run the correct way no matter what processor speed you have. Actually the pc im on runs amazingly faster than i thought it would with a fresh clean install and the right tweaks. Certainly does the job with ease of web browsing, im chat, and alot more applications i need to run or do. Its not like im running graphics software ,rendering 3D objects or anything. I always played games on consoles and used my pc for web browsing etc. basically everything other than play games. Which brings me to the point of a couple members mentioning if this is all i need to do on the computer then why not just stick with what you have. Which is a great point lol |

What i am saying is, if you want a new computer, save your money and get a nice one. Heres what you need:
3.0 GHz processor or better 512 Mb ram or better 100 Gig HD or better Thats about all thats important if you want to play games on it. |
