Will a HDD in your PS2 will make it warmer?

Nope. It's loud and makes the system boot slower, though.

Mine slows down boot time a bit, adds probably five or six extra seconds (it's loading the system software from the HDD as opposed to the onboard rom).

Heatwise, it does get a little warm after a serious play session (playing a game off of the HDD), and it does feature nifty access lighting on the bottom. It's an ugly yellow, but it's still kind of cool.

I play Outbreak all the time off the HDD, and it never warms.

Playing FFXI off the HDD warrents a little heat, but not enough to be concerned about. The initial boot time is, as said, 5 or 6 seconds longer than normal, but it's not that bad in the end. I believe it's well worth it to have a HDD. Especially after that memory card-wiping Holiday Demo Disc fiasco. The HDD saved my ass and subsided my anger to quite a normal level. Had I not had the HDD, I wouldn't have a PlayStation right now ; ;

I think mine warms up during project snowblind because when i play in an online game when i leave the game freezes when it tries to get back to the "main screen"
