ok, i have two PS2s, and will soon have 2 copies of NFS and EON (borrowed from friends), so i can do a packet log of these games. im not claiming to have the ability to code a server for any of these, but i would like to have a log available so any one so inclined can freely do so.
2 questions: - can i properly make a log with two machines in the same network? - what program is best for my purposes? im not saying these are the best games in the world, and the most worthy of 'saving'. but i certainly enjoyed both, and any manner of fucking ea sounds like fun to me. |

A free easy to use packet logger would be:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/pmon.htm CommView is also a very good packet logger, and is what I use on a regular basis. I believe you can try that for a limited time. Finding a more perminant version will require $$$ or villian like tactics. You could log both machines over the same network. I'm not trying to discourage you, but these games most likely go through DNAS. Plus, these games also run on EA's software. So by logging these you'd have the information just for archival purposes, or for research of a technical nature. Beyond this I don't know if much can be done. If anything it couldn't hurt to log them just in-case someone down the road is able to put them to some use. |

I could help you out if you want a person not in your own network.

ok, i logged a lobby and instant matchup session with commview. now i believe i am on the right track. the problem is its next to impossible to finish the coop missions with one player. if someone can hook up with me and we could finish a mission that would be great.
tomorrow ill do the NFSU full rundown. NFSU is a much more active game, so ill find outside people easier. Posted Thu Jan 12, 2006 6:53 pm: ok, i did every thing i can with EON. i dont believe its necessary to play every map. i logged each game mode individually, logged instant and loby matchups, and even sent a few EA instant messages for the hell of it. now on to NFSU! Posted Thu Jan 12, 2006 11:49 pm: my work is done: http://rapidshare.de/files/10947937/EA_Packet_Logs.rar.html i will be logging any games i play from now until the games go offline, but for the most part i think i got some good logs. i hope some good can some of it. |

My best suggestion for a program that can sniff out packets would be NetXray.
