I scored MGS2 and THPS3 for 8.50 after shipping, at ebgames.com. I won't turn this into a huge rant. I got MGS2, and it had not only been resurfaced but there was another huge disc wide rental sticker coating the entire disc. I attempt to slowly remove the sticker, and the paint from the entire disc gets peeled off.
Neither game came with a case or manual. Talk about complete shit. The THPS3 was non-gh's in good condition. I can atleast save that for LAN and get another copy with case and manual down the road. The MGS2 situation really really pissed me off. This disc is practically worthless now. I wonder if it will even play because the thickness of the disc has been altereted now that it has no label. I shelled out about 12 for a complete version of MGS2 at another online store. I was so pissed about the ebgames purchase that the only way to calm myself down was to acquire the game complete at a solid price. Fuck GameStop / EBgames. |

I could rant on and on for days about GameCrazy and how shitty their corporate structure there is (being a former employee), but the one thing I will say good about them is the special order.
If you're looking for a game, and they don't have one in stock (and the game isn't blacklisted), they can send in an order to their SO department, which searches through all of the inventories of their stores until it finds the game, and then that game is shipped to your store and held in your name. It costs six bucks when you put in the order (to cover S&H when they ship it to your local store), but if a copy comes in that you don't want (either it's in shitty shape, or their is no case/manual), then you can decide not to buy it and get your six bucks back.* *Make sure and clarify that with the store manager before you put the order in, though. While it's company policy that you get your shipping fee back if you decide not to buy a game, some managers will try to screw you. Get them to write it on the reciept if he/she acts shady about it. Anyway, with special order, you can actually get a look at the game before you plunk down the cash, which is nice. And the six bucks is a little more than what you'd probably pay for an online retailer shipping within the US, but it's worth it to know what you're getting. And it's refundable if you change your mind. But yeah, Fuck GameStop/EB Games. I try as hard as possible to stay away from those shitty chain videogame retailers. |

GameStop/EBGames have been dropping the ball on used games for a long time now, ESPECIALLY after the merger of the two (since cases and manuals were no longer guaranteed). I haven't shopped at either chain for years (except EBGames.com for NEW stuff only, the latest being MGS3 Subsistence LE), and this only reminds me why. Don't even get me started on the stores selling used games as new for full price...
Good to hear you found a complete copy of MGS2 after that whole incident, though. |

The good news is, that completly destroyed copy of MGS2 actually runs ok. I could trade / give it to my brother if anything.
The next dilemma is: Will the MGS2 I get be Greatest Hits? or the original release? DUN DUN DUNNNNNN |

EBGames.com is a crap shoot when it comes to buying used games. It's very tempting given some of the games they list as being in stock, but they could be in any condition.
If I'm really scavenging around for out of print games, I check out half.com. They have a good selection with rock bottom shipping costs. Just look for highly rated sellers, and read the descriptions carefully. I found it to be a good way to go. |
