I dunno though. It retains SOME of the charm, but it has it's own feel, that's for sure. I loved PSOGC and PSOBB. And I can forsee myself losing hours to this game. My grades are gonna suffer, that's for sure. I really like the item synth thing. The whole rythm attacking, however, I miss. You can just button mash in this one to pull off your three-hit combos. Guns (or at least, the hand guns I've used) don't have a three shot limit like they used to. However, they do have ammo this time around. It's similar to TP for techs, in that it regens. Speaking of TP. TP is now PP. It is tied to whatever weapon you're using. Special attacks on melee weapons and guns drain PP. Techs on wands and staffs drain PP. PP can be restored over time or with special items or by paying money at these sphere things. Spells are also linked to your weapon. Not sure if they can be linked to a melee weapon, will have to try that out when I can use Resta on my HUmarl (yeah, yeah, no class as such, but it's gonna be hard to leave that naming scheme behind).

So far I have a level 10 FOnewm, 10 HUmarl, and a 5 HUmar (my friend's). I don't quite understand how the job system works. Apparently you can pay money to switch between the jobs, and after so many levels in a specific job (or two or three) you can unlock and change to advanced jobs.

Overall, though, I'm very pleased with the game. A lot of fixes that should have been in PSO, but enough changes to make it not PSO. But then again, PSO != PSU. Different acronyms. Laughing

I think PSU rules. I was skeptical my frist night online about his game being a good game. I had to learn the planets and space colonies, not to mention the controls. Now I think PSU rules and the offline play is cool too. I have not been so addicted to an online game since PSO. PSU ROCKS MY SOCKS!

To shed some light on what nikon was mentioning and how a PSO veteran feels about PSU, here are my impressions:

I was given the opportunity to play the Xbox 360 beta and well... I have to admit that I wasn't extremely impressed. My favorite aspects of PSO (the 'rhythmic' pace of the battle system, performance, ease of play and music) had either been watered-down or stripped out completely. The music in particular was a let-down. It felt like somebody grabbed a Casio keyboard circa 1985 and just jammed out some basic melodies. The atmosphere the music contributed to PSO was completely absent.

.

Those were EXACTLY the things that made pso an experience for me most notably that music[/b]

This is thie first online game I have ever paid to play. I do not mind paying to play this game because I think SEGA is the shit.
I have to talk more about this game because its so amazingly insane. You have options in this game to decorate your room. To decorate your room it cost meseta. The coolest option though is to turn your room into a store. Your mag/buddy will take care of the sales even when your offline. This game rules!

The other really cool thing is the beast class. Once a beast is lvl 20 and has the tattoo it can transform into the Hulk and demolish everything in its path. I already started with a hunter, but once I am lvl him up high I am gonna make me a beast. Anyway, once again, "PSU ROCKS MY SOCKS".

Cheers and see you online
