Lets say I were to buy a European PS2(with voltage adapter and PAL to NTSC converter), along with a European SWBFII. Would I connect to the European servers or would it detect my IP as American and connect me to the North American servers?
We are ignoring the obvious lag problems here. |

The Star Wars Battlefront games are limited by a version number which prevents each region from playing against each other online or in a LAN environment. This is also proven by the dedicated servers themselves having entirely different options for hosting a PAL or NTSC PS2 Online server. This is hardcoded into the game. There is no way around this.
The only realistic way for PAL and NTSC players to play SWBF online together, would be for a users to purchase a PS2 console from the other region and the game, or use a flip-top case and a boot disc to play the game online via tunneling. However with the latter option it would prevent them from accessing the online portion of the game since these games connect through DNAS, which means they can't access OC's dedicated servers and would be forced to only tunnel the game online over thirdparty software such as XLINK. Due to the complications involved with this, OC's focus on SWBF is primarily comprised of NTSC players, with PAL vs NTSC online play being focused on other games that support cross region play without the need to import software/hardware from the opposite region. |
