New software in development for the EyeToy video cam peripheral will allow users to sign online and meet up in chat rooms. You will be able to take advantage of a variety of communications methods. (Wait wait wait....since when has variety ever entered my vocabulary when it comes to PS2 related online material?!) Well it is now.

You'll be able to utilize -- text, voice, video-mail and direct face-to-face realtime video chat. Text chat rooms will allow for up to 256 people. Voice chat will hold 16 people.

Mini-games will be made available as well such as: chess, checkers, and Naval War.

The software is slated to hit Europe this summer. There is no word for a US release of this software as of yet.

Authors Note: I'm wondering if you can get this software and use it for voice and text only, even if you don't have the eyetoy camera. Would be interesting because a wide variety of users would be able to take advantage of it depending on what hardware they have available. If all you had was just a keyboard you'd still be able to get the software and pretty much enjoy the hell out of it. Will be interesting to see if this is possible. I'm guessing a US release is eminent, just it's getting released in EUR first because EyeToy was debuted there and also sold extremly well in Europe.

 This is infinitely cooler if there are at least 8 online games and all of them have the capability of being EyeToy controlled and/or have video chat while playing.

 I don't think 12/30 really counts as a true release date...IGN uses this (or even 12/31) to give dates to games when it's still unknown. It's like a filler for when the real release date isn't known yet, I guess.

 Hiya there, you don't knoe me and i don't know you but i ned your help ( if you can ).

Im living in Melbourne Australia and am about to backpack the world at xmas and ive been told about the PS2 tournaments overseas, last time we checked there wasn't any here, can you send me links or application forms or details of were and when thay are, even their phone numbers so i can call.

Ive been looking on this site and other sony ones with no success.

anyway, just search www.google.com for a tournament, or search for a specific game tounament.
