I'm gonna be on a mission to track down the correct ports needed to play any PS2 online game. If your on broadband and behind a router. Opening ports is essential to hosting or sometimes even joining other games.

Gonna be working on a new guide soon for this on the EXACT specific ports required to be open for each game.

I think this would help a lot of people.

Amplitude uses Ports 10070-10080. I read that on there log in screen, and once I opened them up, I was acually able to join games again Smile

Everything else i've played I havent had a problem with. This includes all games for PS2, Xbox, and PSO for GCN.

Well, I was having some issues with nikon and DaMan trying to play Twisted Metal Black Online last night. Even DMZ didn't work, which was really confusing to me. It did work when I completely bypassed my router, but that's not really ideal.

I did find this at another forum, and I'll see if I can try it tonight:
Quote:
1. TCP (2300 to 2400) Then Enter your IP Address
2. UDP (2300 to 2400) Then Enter your IP Address
3. UDP (2300 to 2400) Then enter your IP address

...only use this option if your DMZ does not work, only use this as a last resort.

I'm not really sure why he has UDP listed twice; that may be an error. In any case, a listing of tested ports and methods for each online game would be very welcome.

If your like me, and opening ports don't alleviate any problems, try a firmware upgrade. After almost a year of connection issues in TMB:O, I upgraded and now I'm able to play without any issues. The reason I didn't do this before? Because my router would refuse the upgrades.

Suprisingly, Auto Modelista still has trouble connecting behind a router. I'm going to investigage this more.

Yea, it's weird, most of my games are like that too. Infact, I have two network configs, one for my mom's house and her router and one for my dad's house and his router. My mom's config goes through a specific IP which has opened ports available to it. My dad's config, however, is entirely autodetect. (This is all PS2 right now). I had to use this config for TMB:O, SOCOM II, and recently Starwars Battlefront (actually, it might work without the ports, i haven't tried it though). When I got FFXI, however, it COULD NOT connect to download the updates. Why? I had no clue. I set up the network configuration in FFXI (it has separate configs) just as I had for my mom's config, but it wouldn't go. That is, until I set it to auto-detect. PSOGC works just fine on auto-detect to. I guess it's just how the programmer's code it all. 'Cause I know for a fact that FFXI uses certain ports that should be closed on my router, but it works anyway. Oh well.

In some ways I have abandoned this endevour. I have decided just to leave this information to come up during general troubleshooting in forum topics rather than making some guide for it.

The PS2 online game list is about to breach 100 games.

Finding the proper working ports for all these games would take a lifetime.

* - I would assume that this works for the 2004 game, though, since its 2003 predecessor's server is shut down.

SCEA recommends having ports 10070-10080 (TCP/UDP) forwarded for online titles, but I guess it only applies to games whose servers are hosted by them. EA also states to have ports 7777 (UDP) and 6000 (UDP) open for voice chat in their 2004 and 2005 online titles, respectably. All this information was gathered by me from various sources, including but not limited to PlayStation.com, PlayStation.com forums, Capcom Support, EA.com, and a game's respective instruction manual.

Wow, that took me a really, really long time to make up and type. Well, those are the ports for 41 PS2 online games. Hope this helps someone. Very Happy

I'd like to add that Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm uses ports 6667-6667, 40000-40020, 41005-41006, 44000-45000 (TCP/UDP).

We should at least try and find ports for the more popular games in the future (such as Area 51, Project: Snowblind, etc).

I just found out the ports for Trivial Pursuit: Unhinged (from its manual) and thought I'd share it: open 33000 (VoIP under TCP/UDP), 22042 (server under TCP), 27900, 27901, 6500, 28910, 6667.

Anyone know the ports that must be opened for the Battlefront PS2 Dedicated Server software on the PC? I've been trying to figure out what they are 'cause everytime I run a server, I can't find it in the list...
