On August 26th, the 989SportsOnline.com website will officially launch. This is along with the anticipated release of the latest, 989 NFL GameDay franchise. 989SportsOnline.com will provide gamers with a single centrally located lobby that allows access to an array of features:

+message boards
+user-mail
+989 Sports tournaments
+leader boards
+polls and surveys
+live sports ticker
+download updated team rosters
+download live weather conditions on game day
+chat with players logged on via PC or with any 989 Sports title

Its reported that all of this will be able to be accessed via the PS2 or the PC. Which is great for users without a PC that need to access a lot of this content. The same way in that Phantasy Star Online on gamecube can access community message boards via the gamecube, 989 games should have access to the 989 online community via the PS2 or the PC. Not only this, but you can gain direct access to the development team at 989. You can recommend suggestions and discuss the games and their features. The 989 dev team will intern provide feedback based on your proposals.

The first game due out that will take full advantage of this service is NFL Gameday 2004. Due to release August 26th, the same day 989SportsOnline.com launches. Gameday 2004 will feature revolutionary Voice Recognition Technology. From a USB headset users can call audibles, place recievers in motion, and call a timeout simply by saying 'timeout'. The game will feature over 50 VR controls.
