Sony announced it is finalizing its plans on a new game matching service(thank god). It will allow multiplayer games to easily find each other on the Internet. This new service will initially support the upcoming PC based Lords of Everquest. The first game for PS2 that will take advantage of this service is the up and coming Champions of Norrath.

This is a very good thing for ps2 online gamers. This shows sony realizes they need to provide more communication tools for gamers playing non-sports games on ps2 online. Sports games on PS2 have plenty of support with major communities and interactivity tools for sports gamers. However, focus on the rest of the ps2 online library has been sparse. its good to see sony addressing this issue.

To date sony has sold over 750,000 network adaptors. Sony is preparing to add a series of technology enhancments for online gamers and have up to 50 games online by the end of 2003.
