Well, it's official, Acclaim is out of business. They just layed off 600 of their employees and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. In early july Acclaim needed to get a new credit line for they would be faced with impending doom. After they were unable to aquire said credit, they were forced to succumb to the inevitable. Laying off all their employees and filing for bankruptcy just this week. As the moment nothing has been announced about what will happen to Juiced. An upcoming online street racing game from developers Juiced Games. However we are assuming they will find a new publisher, similar to what happened when 3DO went out of business, and Namco picked up Street Racing Syndicate.

Tis a sad day when a gaming business goes bankrupt, I certainly hope someone picks it up where it was left off, would be quite a shame if it gets cancelled all together

Well see Acclaim was the publisher of Juiced. It was and still is being finished / developed by it's creators, Juiced Games. The game was scheduled to be in stores this week. So it should be completed practically. I bet within the next week some company will snatch up this title. It was a high profile game release.

Yeah, I hope this gets released soon. Losing a potentially great PS2 online game like this would suck.

I forgot to mention a while ago that EGM and PSM have both already reviewed Juiced, and I have yet to see it surface on store shelves. Apparently (from the link below), the game will surface next summer.

Here's what I did find, though: THQ has bought it up.

"The publisher outbids Take-Two for the rights to the late Acclaim's racing game; sale is scheduled to close Nov. 19."
